Grade 6 Blended Learning

August 25, 2020

Dear BKG Grade 6 Families,

Thank you for attending the parent coffees, town hall meetings, completing our in-house BKG Remote Learning Surveys and the DOE Remote Learning Survey. As discussed at our last town hall meeting and the last 2 Parent Coffees, based on your feedback, student learning data from Spring 2020 and teacher input, we have finalized our preliminary plans for School Reopening in September, and wanted to communicate your child’s school schedule for Fall 2020.

Core instruction in ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science and The Arts will take place on Tuesdays through Fridays. If you selected a Blended Model your child will come into the building Tuesdays and Wednesdays for in-person learning. On Thursdays and Fridays your child will stay home and participate in remote learning. On Mondays your child will attend school remotely. The Monday remote schedule will consist of intervention, small group instruction, electives and clubs. Monday courses are individualized based on your child’s learning needs and elective preferences.

If you selected 100% Remote, your child will remain home for all courses. Your child’s Electives, small group instruction, independent work groups, clubs and other learning experiences will take place on Mondays which are all remote days for all students.

Closer to the start of school you will receive your child’s full schedule that will include the all necessary information (Google Learning Platform, other online log in information, dates to pick up learning materials, etc.)

If you need a learning device, please complete the following survey: https://coronavirus.schools.nyc/RemoteLearningDevicesOpens in a new browser tab.
